This is a really really good aud recording. One of the most clear and balanced auds I've heard from the 70's.
I've become more partial to sbd's over ... the past year... when I figured out how to download them it opened up a whole new world, prior I only streamed a few sbds and mostly downloaded auds. The download glitch was fixed last week and you can no longer get the sbds from archive (Yes, it was still possible to DL them after they were made 'stream only' in 05'..you used to be able to change the word 'details' in the url to download and it would lead you to the index page where you could select, flac,mp3..etc..if you want them learn to use losslesslegs/etree/flac/shn)
I've been re exploring some aud recordings. There is no sbd for the first set of this show, but even if there were I think this recording is so good that this would still be the way to go . I have the C.Miller sbd of the 2nd set, which is beautiful, but the ambiance of the audience in this recording adds to the feel with out interfering with the music, that combined with the clarity of sound, which allows you to hear a nice balance of the instruments, makes this one of the best auds of the 70's IMO..
The show has a solid well played first set, but the 2nd set is where the goods are. 76' is a great year for PITB sandwiches and this one is worthy of attention, not quite at the level of 9-28, but still an excellent 2nd set. The next night is just as good, maybe a little better, the Comes A Time>Other One is outstanding. 7/16-7/18 are all worth hearing. 76' Dead can be an acquired taste but once you acquire it, it's sooo good.
